"..but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst.  Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life."
                                                                          John 4:14

"If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us."
                    1 John 1:8

                            The Biggest Misconception

There is a fallacy that has been around ever since I've been alive, and probably hundreds of years before that.  It is a belief held by most people who are not Christians.  It is a belief that is rarely, if ever, talked about in churches, I'm assuming in fear of not wanting to offend, yet is solely responsible for most of the unsaved population heading in the wrong direction,.....more specifically, "down the broad road to destruction".  I have never understood why it is not brought up incessantly in churches, so I thought I would address it here.  It is the concept that you get to heaven by being a good person.

Literally everyone who is not a Christian thinks you get to heaven by "being a good person".  Millions of people believe this. Do you know a person like this?   I'm sure everyone does.  "Hey man,...I'm a good person, I don't cheat on my taxes, I've never cheated on my wife, everybody at work likes me, I hold the door open for people, I've never murdered anyone, never even robbed a bank,......I even clean the bathroom once a year, of course I'm going to heaven."  This is not true and a false assumption.  Why people assume this I'm guessing, is because they have created a God in their mind to suit their lifestyle.  A God who favors the number of your good deeds to your bad,...a God who is ok with everything as long as it's not illegal by the world's standards.  Folks, most people's mindset is exactly this.  Yet the truth, is exactly this,........we are not saved by our deeds, we are saved by grace through faith.  Ephesians 2:8-9 says,..."For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith - and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God, not by works, so that no one can boast."  Now....what does that mean?  It means we are saved by grace from God through nothing we can do on our own, but through our faith in him, no amount of good deeds we do on earth will save us.  If anyone tells you that you must do more, go deaf to them.  Because what they are saying is that Christ's all sufficient and redemptive work on the cross was not enough.  Flee from these people.
Another demented misconception that belongs in the trash heap of history, is this modern day myth that we are all God's children.  I must have heard this 3 times just in the past month, and it seems to get perpetuated through the years.  You hear this everywhere.  On the news, people you associate with socially, coworkers, TV shows, in movies, on the radio,....yet again, it is never discussed.  I was watching a news story where a man murdered his entire family in a drug fueled rage, then went to his place of employment and killed two more, and the news anchor says, "Wow,..a guy in need of a lot of help,..but ya know, nobody is perfect, but it's good to know that we are all God's children."  Couldn't believe what I was hearing, and it got me to thinking how jaded our society has become to what the Bible says and what sounds good, simply to make you feel warm and fuzzy.

Make no mistake,...we are not all God's children!  The Bible makes this extremely clear in many places,... John 1:12.......Galatians 3:26.....Romans 8:14......and 1 John 3:10. Matthew 25:33 makes this abundantly clear as well......"He will put the sheep (his children) on his right, and the goats (evildoers) on his left."  And again in 2 Corinthians 6:18....."And, I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty."  Yes, we are all God's CREATION, but only those who have accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior will be called children of God.
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."   John 3:16

To the Mockers & Scoffers

"Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see."
             Hebrews 11:1

H111

You seriously believe in some fairytale book written over 2000 years ago?  It's been 2000 years and your invisible sky creature has yet to show his face.  I don't need some Savior to save me, I'm doing just fine without him,...besides, I'm a "good person".  We're still waiting for you crazy Christians to magically disappear.
Have you heard that before?  I can tell you without hesitation that if you are on YouTube on a Christian channel, you will see it daily.  Comments much worse than those, comments so vile, I wouldn't presume to bore you with the details.  Most of these people struggle with room temperature IQ's, but God loves them just the same.  These are the people we are trying to reach. "On hearing this, Jesus said to them, "It is not the healthy who need a physician, but those who are ill, I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners."  Mark 2:17  Sadly, many of these people will reject the message of salvation.  They will be the ones who will one day be begging for their life from the very One they spent a lifetime rejecting and mocking.   I can promise you, on that day, the jokes about our Savior will be impossible to find.  The most feared words a person will ever hear are these, "Depart from me, I never knew you".  These are the words many will hear from the lips of Jesus Christ.

Why are those words the most feared?  Because with that single statement, it severs all ties between you and Jesus Christ.  Folks, everyone who has been born into this world is going to live forever, this is Biblical, and found in Matthew 25:46 and Daniel 12:2.  The two destinations where people will live for all eternity are slightly different.  One is a paradise that "the human mind cannot conceive" (1 Corinthians 2:9),....the other is a place void of God's presence, a "fiery lake of burning sulfur" (Revelation 21:8).........where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth, also referred to as a "blazing furnace" (Matthew 13:42).

The will of the Father is John 6:40, which states - "For this is the will of My Father, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him will have eternal life, and I Myself will raise him up on the last day."
So what is my point in addressing people who mock Jesus Christ, who don't fear Him?  My point is that unless you come to repentance and His saving grace that he offers freely,....one day you will fear Him.  And it's a position you won't want to be in figuratively or literally.  If you are reading this and are unsaved, and nothing you have read here means much to you at all, then this next verse probably should.  "For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God."  1 Corinthians 1:18   It means the people who are currently heading to hell are the ones who mock Jesus, find him useless, and don't think they need him as their Savior, but to us who are saved, the cross is everything.  To the unsaved, this is the mother of all wake-up calls!  The risk you are taking living without Christ is literally the biggest risk you can possibly take on this earth.  Below are some tools and guides that hopefully you who are contemplating His free offer of eternal life will find useful........
"I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and
gave himself for me."
                   Galatians 2:20
